The NCL Experience: Stanford Hills Chapter
The goal of the Stanford Hills Chapter program is to inspire and empower women to succeed as confident, well-rounded, and socially aware contributors in their communities.
The daughters, also knows as "Ticktockers" (TTs), along with their mothers participate in a Six-Year Plan with an educational program of philanthropic work, leadership training, education activities, and cultural events.
Philanthropic Work
Each National Charity League, Inc. Chapter considers the local community's needs and determines the philanthropies to support. This support comes in the form of time and organizational skills and may involve fundraising.
The Stanford Hills Chapter currently supports the following 27 philanthropies:

Ticktocker Leadership Training
The Ticktocker leadership training program allows Ticktockers to assume leadership positions within their grade level. The leadership positions teach basic leadership skills, such as:
- Organizational SkillsCommunication
- Team Building
- Parliamentarian Procedures
- Time Management
Ticktocker Educational Activities
Educational activities are designed to teach the Ticktockers to be self-assured in social settings, demonstrate good manners,
and respect others. Educational activities provide training in the areas of:
- Personal Growth Training (personal & social responsibilities)
- Personal Independence
- Personal Finance Skills
- Assertiveness & Personal Safety
- College & Career Planning
- Event Planning (mother/daughter tea, fashion show, senior recognition)
Ticktocker Cultural Events
Cultural events help develop community awareness and cultural sensitivity, with the following types of cultural events being the focus:
- Performing Arts (music, theater, and dance)
- Visual Art
Stage Performances
- Museums
- Cultural Centers
Stanford Hills Chapter Membership
In order to become a member of the National Charity League, Inc., Stanford hills Chapter, women and their daughters must be sponsored by current NCL Active members in good standing. Membership requires a commitment of time, service, as well as financial obligation. Mothers living in Atherton, East Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Portola Valley, Redwood City, and Woodside with daughters entering seventh through twelfth grade are eligible for membership. A new class of mothers and their daughters must be sponsored in the fall while their daughters are still in the 6th grade. They are then selected by a "draw" in January and join our Chapter in May. Admission into older grades is subject to the same sponsorship rules and is based on space availability.
Membership in this organization affords mothers and daughters the opportunities to participate together in philanthropic work, leadership development, and cultural experiences.
